Time for change...moving forward to iBIG'ger and Better
After several months of deep thought and self evaluation, I have decided to direct my attention back to my privately owned company, International Business Intelligence Group, LLC (iBIG) based out of New York.
Originally when I started the company some 3 1/2 years ago, I had the idea to bring BI to the masses and start with small to midsize clients as a starting point. As the business and the business relationships started to take shape, I realized at the time, BI was still too foreign for most small to midsize businesses to grasp and there was/is a strong need for application development and support services. Driven by the market demands I redirected focus to app dev and allowed the BI side of the business to take a back seat.
After a year of being in business I then realized I could not escape from BI and decided to join Avanade (joint venture between Microsoft and Accenture) to get back into the BI space. While I was with Avanade, I had the opportunity to meet some great people and work on some life changing projects. I quickly reaffirmed my love for BI and Enterprise Colloboration while establishing some long term relationships. Avanade offered the exposure to enterprise clients but lacked the internal technical sales team required to deliver on truely successful BI adoption. We were mostly feed by Accenture clients who expressed an interest in BI but required some real world examples around capability and integation. Needless to say,POC's (Proof of Concept) were a big part of the last two and half years. As PerformancePoint Server (PPS = Microsoft's full package BI Solution) was being launched, I realized it was time for me to focus my attention on PPS and it's capabilities. I then explored an opportunity with Solver, Inc.
Solver is a ten year old privately held company focused on Corporate Performance Management solutions on the Microsoft BI Stack. I had some great experiences with the Solver team in building solutions on PerformancePoint. With my background in Infrastructure and enterprise implementation strategy, I was tasked to write a whitepaper for HP on "PerformancePoint Server implementation Best Practices". I also had the opportunity to work with some of the really smart BI folks that came from Avanade as well as Solver's own team. Together we built some pretty cool solutions for our clients and developed some great relationships in the process...
Last week, we decided to take a different direction in our relationship. I am going back to the old company and revive the BI initiative with new clients and new friends!
More to come...
